The summer travel season is only weeks away, and for passengers departing from or arriving into Dubai, a startup is ready – quite literally – to ease your luggage burden. DUBZ will deliver your baggage to or from Dubai’s airports, and if you’re flying on certain airlines, you also can check in from your Dubai home or hotel.
As a result, passengers using this service can proceed straight to airport immigration, avoiding queues at the airline check-in counters with the assurance that their bags have already been checked in with the airline. When arriving, they won’t have to worry about their checked luggage, which they will receive at their home or hotel.
DUBZ is a winner of Intelak, a travel, aviation and tourism incubator led by the Emirates Group in partnership with GE and Dubai Tourism. The goal of Intelak is to identify and nurture new startups that will support the UAE’s ambitions to establish the highest global standards for services, systems, and experiences in aviation.
dnata, a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, has taken a majority stake in DUBZ, and the two companies are offering the home check-in service to passengers flying with UAE carrier flydubai and KSA carriers Saudia and flynas.
Passengers arriving at Terminals 1 and 2 at Dubai International Airport and Al-Maktoum International Airport can have DUBZ collect their baggage at the arrivals terminal carousels, clear customs on their behalf and deliver the bags to their home or hotel.
The service is possible thanks to DUBZ’s technology platform, which has been integrated with airport data to help customers select the most suitable pick-up times for their baggage.
DUBZ also partnered with World Security to implement GPS tracking in all DUBZ vehicles, live CCTV screening at its facilities, and smartphones for its drivers to manage paperless transactions.
The luggage check-in services costs AED110 for one bag, AED220 for two bags, AED299 for three bags, and an additional AED30 for each additional bag above three. For the arrival baggage carousel pick up service, the cost is AED99 for the first bag and AED40 for every additional bag.
